Christians, in what way does Luke 9:49-50 apply to our modern world? Does this change how we interpret...?

I think it's a great lesson to be learned. Of course you will get many different interpretations. It means what it says. Ones that don't believe the same as you are nonbelievers and shouldn't be befriended with. They can cause doubt in your mind and can turn you away from the Truth.
